How It Works

The Secret Recipe ClubHello there! I’m Sarah E., owner and writer of The Secret Recipe Club since June 2014. The club was born in April of 2011 from an idea it’s founder Amanda thought would be a fun way to make a recipe from a friend’s blog and that friend could do the same. But instead of just the two of them, including several others would be even more fun. Plus, it would also help give added exposure to their food blogs. After running the club for one year, she passed it on to April so she could pursue other adventures. April was my group hostess when I started in October 2011 and trained me up to take her place as Group D hostess when she became owner. She trained me up to take her place as owner, too. She is my SRC mentor, you could say. April will be RV-ing the country with her husband and concentrating on taking it easy – she could use some TLC, so I am happy to help take some responsibility off her hands. Thank you, Amanda & April, for making this club what it is today!

In the very first month, there were 19 participants. The concept is simple really. All SRC members are divided into 4 groups that post on a different Monday. Each month you are “assigned” a participating food blogger in your group to make a recipe from. It’s a secret, so don’t tell them you are making something from their blog! You choose any recipe, make it, photograph it, and blog about it on your specified Monday. In your post, you talk a little about your assigned blogger and the recipe(s) you chose, linking back to both their blog and the recipe(s) you picked. In your post, you will also have a blog hop (code is posted in the members’ area each month) that shows off all of your fellow group members’ posts for reveal day!

So that’s the basic concept and it’s turned into a very fun way to discover new blogs, make new friends, and step outside of our comfort zones! If you think you’re interested, you can join the SRC by filling out the form here.
